What Happened at Food52?
The ascendancy and bankruptcy of a food media empire.
The week before Christmas, Food52 told staff members that most of them were going to be laid off. Soon after, the company announced publicly that they were filing for bankruptcy and that America’s Test Kitchen was in the process of acquiring their brand assets for $6.5 million through a debtor-in-possession financing system (basically allowing Food52 to continue operating with a skeleton crew).
