Every year, restaurants and recipe websites and canned cocktail brands want you to feel that they’ve unlocked the most tonally appropriate drink for this particular summer. These drinks promise to fit the mood of the season and act as an antidote to the malaise of the moment.
It’s a noble goal to try to unite us with spritzes, dirty Shirleys, and frosés, but truthfully, no one drink of summer is likely to appease us all.
